Monotypes

I have been experimenting lately with monotypes as a quick way to produce some studies for potentially larger paintings. I really enjoy the immediacy of the results as well as the element of surprise that comes in printmaking.

When I composed this little (4" x 5") monotype, I was imagining what it would look like if on a sunny, breezy day, you were looking up at the leaves on a tree...with sparkles of sun peaking from behind the darkened backlit trees...what resulted felt more like wildflowers in a meadow...that is the kind of surprise that I enjoy!
