I haven't forgotten "my plan"... blog regularly in 2014 (once a week was my goal).  I haven't posted in awhile, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working on my blog.  I have a blog post that I am really excited to share because it is so relevant to so much of what I hear around me among artists and among parents.  So please stick with me...THAT post is percolating.

What else is new in my studio, you ask? I've been working on a lot of the nitty gritty behind the scenes stuff that has to happen to be a professional artist (ie illustration side job, supply order, accounting, taxes, image management, applications to shows, etc).  I've also been working on several new paintings in my studio in preparation for my most active selling time...the summer.  So on the thought of summer and warmer temps,  I will share my most recent painting (yet to be titled)...

This painting needs a title.  What do YOU think would be a good title?

Vincent Van Gogh and Hope

I know nothing with any certainty but the sight of the stars makes me dream - Vincent Van Gogh

A dear friend brought this quote to my attention recently.  It is great on so many levels.  This week I will reread it to remind myself:
  • to be present (perhaps this is a good week to attempt my dream of daily meditation   (5 minutes a day seems reasonable, right?)
  • to believe in hope
This quote reminds me of one of my favorite motivational speakers, Brene Brown.  She says one of the greatest gifts you can give your kids is HOPE.  You can see her Ted talk on the power of vulnerability here. I would agree.  With hope you can believe in yourself and the world. You can believe you can be a painter or beat cancer.

With hope, what can you believe?
